In the final kms heading into the finish, the Spaniard blasted away from Lance, Cadel and the rest of the chase to show that he is not ready to lay down and play second fiddle. While he didn't win the stage consider this a moral victory for the once Tour Champion. The mountain stages are going to be a total dog fight.
